Every year, San Diego Comic-Con transforms downtown into one giant interactive playground, and many of the biggest attractions happen outside the Convention Center, meaning you don’t need a Comic-Con badge to join in the fun.
From immersive pop-ups and character experiences to giant photo ops, interactive games, family activities, and exclusive merchandise, here’s our roundup of the best badge-free Comic-Con experiences happening around San Diego.
Pro Tip: Many experiences are first come, first served, and popular activations can reach capacity early. Arrive as early as possible and expect lines for the biggest attractions.
The Interactive Zone at Petco Park
One of the best FREE Comic-Con experiences every year is the Interactive Zone, and the best part? No Comic-Con badge is required.
Located in the Lexus Premier Lot next to Petco Park (just across the Harbor Drive pedestrian bridge from the Convention Center), this massive fan zone is packed with immersive experiences, exclusive merch, giveaways, photo ops, and family-friendly fun.

Nintendo is bringing several exciting experiences to Comic-Con, including multiple events that are completely badge-free.
Highlights
🎮 Play Nintendo Switch Sports Resort (Badge-Free)
Be among the first in the U.S. to play Nintendo Switch Sports Resort at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront from July 23–26. Guests can try four different sports in this free, first-come, first-served experience.
🤩 Challenge The Rizzler (Badge-Free)
On July 23, fans can enter for a chance to compete against social media creator The Rizzler after trying Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.
🥤 BRISK x Splatoon Raiders Island Hideout (Badge-Free)
Open July 24–25, this outdoor activation features a Splatoon-inspired challenge, free BRISK™ Iced Tea, hands-on gameplay on Nintendo Switch 2, and exclusive merchandise while supplies last.
🎟️ Bonus for Badge Holders: Nintendo Booth #235 inside the Convention Center offers hands-on demos of Splatoon Raiders for guests with Comic-Con badges.
Candy Land Cafe
Escape into a life-sized Candy Land adventure inspired by the classic board game.
Your ticket includes a 90-minute experience, $10 in food credit, $5 in merchandise credit, and the chance to explore whimsical scenes inspired by Mr. Mint’s Peppermint Forest, King Kandy’s Castle, and Jolly’s Gumdrop Mountains.
