Scootering: It’s a thing!

Scootering. It’s a thing. Especially in San Diego. Who knew?! I certainly didn’t until 2 months ago. In fact, my 2 teenage boys and ten year old son often discuss their favorite you tubers. Still, I had zero idea that the famous you tubers include professional scooter riders. Now I know.

Professional Scooter Riders: Corey and Capron Funk at The Scooter Farm

First, my boys told me that they needed to attend a pro scooter event at a scooter hot spot called The Scooter Farm. At the event they were beyond enthused to meet The Funk Brothers. Both Corey and Capron Funk are famous you tubers and professional scooter riders. They graciously signed t-shirts and took pictures with their fans. The Scooter Farm gave away at least 100 shirts that day: FREE!

Later, I found out that The Scooter Farm is one of the most famous stores in the nation for scooter pros and fans as they offer pro scooter gear and custom made scooters. They also host exciting events throughout the year and offer scooter lessons at reasonable prices. The lessons are held in the back of the store where they have built a mini scooter park. My boys took a lesson from one of the teachers who was patient and incredibly talented. Seriously impressive. At this point, this mom of boys is becoming a fan. But, there’s more to the San Diego scooter rage.

Mission Valley YMCA Krause Family Bike & Skate Park

There are scooter parks throughout the nation that are widely known by scooter pros and amateurs. In fact, San Diego is home to one of the most well known scooter and skate parks internationally. The Mission Valley YMCA Krause Family Bike and Skate Park aka the Clairemont Skate Park is the largest of it’s kind in San Diego. I’ve visited on several occasions and have met incredible parents and watched some extremely talented scooter pros from all over the world.

This weekend is Scooter Con!

Today marks the 10th annual San Diego Scooter Con at the Clairemont Skate Park. The event hosts both amateurs and scooter pros along with well known venders.

Tomorrow, The Scooter Farm will keep the momentum going by hosting their second annual San Diego Street Jam. This year’s SD Street Jam’s starting location is the MTS Trolley Stop at Encanto/ 62nd St at 10:30 a.m.. Riders and fans hop the MTS and ride through town to various locations to show off their talent. See The Scooter Farm for more details or join them at their first stop.
