The holidays are fast approaching! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already here, and soon Christmas! With my wee one just celebrating his first birthday, I’m so excited to be able to get a bit more festive this year since he’s more alert and just in awe of every single light we’ve come across while shopping. Every. Single. Light.
I’ve got to be honest though, as emotionally amped up as I am for the holidays, physically I’m just a wreck. While I was pregnant, I became a HUGE sugar-holic. I craved nothing but chicken pot pie dinners, cherry coke, and sherbet. By the time my little one came, I had gained 50 pounds. Whoa. No biggie, I thought at the time. The weight’s gonna quickly drop as I get back into the groove of things. *Cue audience laughter.* My healing process from having my little Peanut (c-section and two wonderful post-partum infections later) has given me the LONGEST healing time I could have ever imagined. Ever. Inflammation in every joint possible and lethargy are now second nature to me.
The pending agenda of family gatherings, winter outings, and copious amounts of sugary treats has brought on the dread. And if you’re anything like me during the holidays, you sometimes slip into the over-indulgent land and can’t find your way out. Which only makes you feel worse afterwards, right?
But that’s all going to change very quickly! I’m BEYOND excited to be leading SDMB’s first Whole30 challenge this January 1st, 2017, and I want YOU to join me! If you’re new to the Whole30, I invite you to read a little introduction to their program here to get a sense of what we’ll be starting the first of the year. If you’re feeling even the slightest fraction of what I shared, then this challenge may be just what you need to kick off a healthy and happy 2017!
