One of our family’s favorite things to do together is to play games.
We are always looking for games that the whole family can enjoy. As a mom, I try and look for games that are engaging and appeal to all ages, with bonus points for some educational elements. However, it can be hard to find games that our two toddlers can understand and that we enjoy playing too. We were so excited to try the Home Learning Company’s Mama Mia Meatball Count card game.
Meatball Count is a very simple, but fun card game.
Every card has a certain number of meatballs and a plate with a specific color and shape. Every player takes turns trying to match a card based on the amount of meatballs, the color of plate or the shape of plate.
We had so much fun playing this game and will definitely be adding it to our Family Game Night rotation!
Here are the top 3 reasons we love it:
- It caters to all ages and abilities. My two year old is still grasping number concepts, but she knows her shapes and colors so she was able to focus on that element. My four year old was able to practice her counting skills and matching a number to a quantity which are great math skills for her to work on. My husband and I were able to just enjoy the game and focus on some fun strategies with the bonus cards.
- It is educational. I love that my girls were practicing math concepts as well as strategy and they didn’t even know it!
- It’s fun! We have tried to play a game like this before with just a deck of cards, but our girls struggled with the concept a lot more. The meatballs make for a unique, but recognizable aspect to the game.
With the holidays coming quickly, this game would make a great stocking stuffer! No matter what age of kids you have, Meatball Count is sure to be a hit!
