Just a Mom Boss Driving the Trail Boss, Thanks to Chevrolet!

Recently, I had the opportunity to test drive the new 2019 Silverado Trail Boss thanks to Chevrolet—and man oh man, was it a fun week taking to the streets of San Diego in this bad boy. At first glance you may be thinking
how would this truck make sense for a family? A Mom? After all, my daughter was just a few inches taller than the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac Off-Road tires with the 2-inch factory suspension lift, so those thoughts crossed my mind as well. But after driving it for a week straight, I’d like to suggest to Chevrolet that they rebrand this upgraded version of the Chevy Silverado to the Limited Edition Mom Boss, because that is exactly how I felt while in the driver’s seat.

Here are 5 reasons why the new Trail Boss could be a great fit for your family:

1. It demands respect on the streets. As I mentioned earlier, at first glance I was slightly intimidated by the sheer size of this truck. I mean to be honest, its huge. But once inside I couldn’t believe how smooth and easy it was to drive. The turning radius, pick up, and overall drive felt just as though I was driving a much smaller SUV. I even parallel parked it outside my job in Little Italy, without an inch of hesitation or concern. I felt so safe in this car, not just because of its size, but because people respected our space while I was driving it.

2. It is extremely spacious inside and out, making it perfect for any family outing. My daughter and I are always off on an adventure. We went to the beach and I easily threw the sand toys, a cooler, towels and beach bag in the truck bed and headed out. At the end of our day in the sun, we sat on the ledge of the truck bed, dusting off our feet, and throwing all our stuff (with the addition of seashells) into the bed. I didn’t have to worry about trekking all the sand into the interior! We love to take road trips and get out experiencing new things: hiking, camping, drive-in movies, towing jet skis or boats down to the bay. The Silverado’s truck bed and hitch alongside Chevy’s Hitch Guidance system, (a convenient, Mom-friendly guideline to assist in properly lining up to your trailer hitch,) comes in handy for so many unimaginable things for families. Weekends camping, soccer tournaments out of town, sleepovers with endless friends… the use of the extra space for equipment is endless.

3. The truck bed makes sense for business. I am an event planner alongside owning the San Diego Moms Blog, so as you can imagine I am constantly attending, planning, working and executing events in my day-to-day life. You should see the trunk of my car–it is a really sad story. To be able to have all the tools you may need (and even some you don’t) readily available, but not inside the car helps relieve the sense of clutter, maximize space, and always keep you prepared.

4. Safety. Chevrolet has some of the most advanced safety features in the game. It comes complete with six airbags, a StabiliTrak av stability control system and traction control, OnStar®, and a Rear Vision Cameras to name just a few. They cover all the bases to ensure your safety is their number one priority. I was so pleasantly surprised to see a “Check the Rear Seat” notification pop up when I turned the engine off. Sadly, far too many children have been inadvertently left in vehicles or have gotten into a vehicle on their own. Last year there were 51 deaths related to heat stroke, and although we may never think that this could happen to us, this notification gives hopeful avoidance to that grim statistic.

5. Driving the Trail Boss leaves you feeling more confident on so many levels. As I sat down to write this post, I couldn’t help but giggle just a bit as one of the perks of driving this truck over the past week was the attention that was given by both men and women alike. I had a woman stop me in the Target parking lot to tell me how amazing it was that I was driving this truck, she asked how it drove, how it felt towing my toddler and Target bags in what looked like a “man’s” car–whatever that means! Conversely, I got quite a few head nods and double takes by men throughout the week as I stepped out of this truck. I can assure you these courteous looks don’t happen when I get out of my crossover SUV. It made me feel good knowing I was safe, I felt comfortable, and I had personal and automotive space while driving around town. Even my daughter cried a bit when I had to send the truck back.

Although I have always been a fan of the Chevrolet brand, I can confidently say I am now a believer due to my week with the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss. Stay tuned as I get the opportunity to drive and review the new Chevy Blazer later next month! At that time, I will be  sharing some really cool safety features for those of you who have teen drivers. Although Kaia is only 3, the thought of her driving really scares me. But, after learning more about the amazing cutting-edge technology that is standard on all Chevrolet vehicles, I am feeling much more confident in her eventually being on the road without me. Lucky Kaia!

Stay tuned, SDMB Family.
