Currently, in the San Diego Unified School District alone, there are 15 Two-Way Dual Language Immersion schools and over 40 bilingual programs. All promote students acquiring a second language (this doesn’t include private or charter schools). Around the world, speaking a second language is a fairly normal part of life and it is definitely a part of life in the United States as well.
We are thrilled to be partnering with HITN Learning to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and promote bilingual education. They are kicking off this initiative with an incredible event – “Raising Bilingual Children in a Multicultural World” in Escondido, CA on Saturday, September 21st from 11:30am-1:30pm at Barnes in Noble in Escondido.

At the event, families will have the opportunity to meet renowned bilingual education advocate and TEDx speaker Dr. Mariana Díaz-Wionczek. She will provide valuable tips on how to raise bilingual children in today’s multicultural world. A Hispanic mom, researcher, and academic, Mariana has served as producer and Head of Education, Cultural Content & Research for several Nick Jr. productions. These include Dora the Explorer, Dora & Friends, and Go, Diego, Go! as well as Santiago of the Seas, currently under development.
