We Love Going to Ultrastar Cinemas Mission Valley—Hazard Center. Here’s Why You Should Too!

I first stepped into the current Ultrastar Cinemas Mission Valley-Hazard Center location back when it was a Mann Theatre. Back then, the theatre was a bit more on the sleepy side and its seating pretty basic. It has taken huge strides in the – do I dare show my age – last 20 years!

My daughter had her first movie experience this summer at the Santee Drive-In to see Secret Life of Pets 2. She is coming up on 5 early next year, and figured it was high time she made it to an indoor theatre! Ultrastar Cinemas Hazard Center seemed like the perfect place to make her movie watching debut. Frozen 2 was perfectly suited to the occasion!

We Love Going to Ultrastar Cinemas Mission Valley-Hazard Center. Here’s Why:

  1. Hazard Center is off the mall paths just enough to be less overly-crowded, but still very centrally located.

Situated on Friars Rd just east of 163, this theatre is easily accessed from the freeway. The theatre is on the south side of the Hazard Center shopping center on the lower level. On the upper levels, there are restaurants, coffee shops, Barnes and Noble, and a Lakeshore Learning Store. Also, Lavish Nails is a great place for pampering for both adults and kids! Check out the offerings of Hazard Center and make an afternoon of it.

  2. The price is right!

Next, we love Ultrastar Cinemas Mission Valley-Hazard Center because the prices aren’t over the top.

While the regular admission price after 4PM is $12 daily, Tuesdays are a day to save at $5 per ticket all day. If daytime works for you, the first showing of the day is only $7 and just $10 thereafter until 4PM. I was most pleasantly surprised that my daughter’s admission was free! This applies to kids 5 and under, apparently. I wish I had known sooner, as she is almost 5!

  3. This theatre is super family-friendly!

From the Parent Movie Morning on Wednesdays at 10:30AM to the Baby’s Night Out Wednesday evening screenings, parents can rejoice in a less-stress movie experie

nce with others in the same season of life! On top of this, there’s a great lounge space near the concession stand to catch up with friends and give the kids a chance to decompress. I was pleased that there was a kid’s combo option at the concession stand so that my daughter had the option to have her own small popcorn, drink, and cookie to enjoy during her first indoor theatre experience!

  4. It’s a fun outing for the grown-ups too!

I loved the oversized comfy seats in the theatre. Oversized, leather-like, reclining, and easy to clean! These are a vast improvement from the fabric-covered seats that would close up on little ones too easily if they didn’t weigh enough. Accordingly, I leaned back and enjoyed my personal space without my child climbing all over me because she was comfortable in her seat too! You’ll find nice deep cupholders in the armrest as well, perfect or holding your concession stand beverage, be it a fountain soda, craft beer, or wine. Enjoy!
