Looking for a fun family outing to celebrate spring time? Well, look no further than Butterfly Jungle at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. I mean, who doesn’t become giddy at the thought of a butterfly landing on them? It’s such a special and magical moment.
Thousands of Beautiful Butterflies
Not only will Butterfly Jungle be filled with thousands of butterflies, but there will also be exotic birds and plants for your family to spot and enjoy. You and your family will be able to learn all about the life cycle of a butterfly, which makes this a fun and educational encounter for you to experience as a family. Keep an eye out, before entering the jungle, for sheets that will help you identify the different types of butterflies inside. My personal favorite to keep an eye out for is the blue morpho.
Tips to Maximize Your Experience
This is a busy time of year at the Safari Park, so of course I’ve prepared some tips to help you get the most out of your trip to Butterfly Jungle. My biggest tip is to arrive early. This is when the line for Butterfly Jungle will be the shortest. Sometimes the line will be on the shorter side closer to park closing as well. You can also purchase priority butterfly viewing for an additional fee at the Lorikeet Landing ticket booth. If you’re hoping to have a butterfly land on you it’s suggested that you wear bright colors and to move through the exhibit at a slower pace.
Exclusive Access
If you’re looking for an extra special way to celebrate the return of Butterfly Jungle the Safari Park is offering two special dining events that allow exclusive access to Butterfly Jungle. On March 20th the park is hosting a Butterfly Jungle Preview Dinner. The event runs from 5pm until 730pm and features a four- course dinner. And on March 29th there will be a Butterfly Jungle Breakfast from 730am until 9am. This event will be a buffet style breakfast. Complete details for each event can be found here.
The Safari Park will be open 9AM until 6PM March 21st through April 19th. And will be open 9AM until 5PM April 20th through May 10th. Butterfly Jungle is included with admission to the Safari Park. So, gather the family and embark on your own butterfly adventure!
