Since “sheltering in place” went into effect last month, I haven’t been venturing out for groceries. Instead, I have turned to online grocery shopping. However, this has proved difficult, as snagging a confirmed grocery delivery order has become like trying to get Coachella tickets.
On more than one occasion, I have optimistically filled my online ‘cart’ with groceries from Ralphs and Amazon only to be met with disappointment: “Due to high demand and social distancing measures, availability is currently limited,” “No delivery times are available,” or even worse, “no pick-up times available.”
Fortunately, eateries and breweries are honing in on the needs of locals. Many are offering take-home pizza-making kits, pantry boxes, fresh produce, beer delivery, and even house-made sanitizer. Read on for details on how to score San Diego groceries and food delivery tips!

Giardino in Lemon Grove Sells Pantry Boxes for Pick up or Delivery
A local favorite of mine, I was happy to see Giardino expand their offerings while the sit-down dining experience is not available. Not only are they offering their signature menu dishes and alcohol items for pickup and delivery, but they sell Pantry Boxes with new items weekly. For $50, Giardino provides meat, pasta, veggies, fruit, eggs, cheeses, toilet paper rolls, latex gloves, and more. Giardino hits the mark with COVID-19 creativity for San Diego groceries and food delivery!
