To the Woman Who Worries She Hasn’t Accomplished Enough

The Constant Worry

There is a part of me that constantly worries that I’m 32 and haven’t accomplished enough with my life. I think about how my life doesn’t look how I thought it would when I was younger. I don’t have it all figured out and I constantly feel pressure that I should.

Quiet Your Inner Critic and Reflect

However, when I really take the time to relax and kick my inner critic to the curb, I realize that I have already made two of my dreams a reality. And what an accomplishment that is, to make your dreams come true. While growing up, I always wanted to work for the Disney company someday. Sometimes I even wanted to run the whole company. I may not be running the company but I did make my dream of working for the Walt Disney Company come true in 2011 when I got the chance to be an attractions host at Walt Disney World as part of the Disney College Program. It was one of the best experiences of my life and if the opportunity ever arises to go back, I’d have trouble turning it down.

In 8th grade, I first discovered the joys of writing and knew instantly that I wanted to become a writer. It’s why I got my Bachelor’s Degree in creative writing. Becoming an author was my new dream. And last year it became a reality when I started self-publishing short stories on Amazon, as well as the start of my journey with San Diego Moms. And now, at 32 years young I have the amazing opportunity to figure out what my next dream is.

You’re on Your Own Path

Let me tell you something you may not hear too often. It’s alright if you don’t have it all figured out. It’s alright if you aren’t in a long-term career yet. And it’s alright if you start over. I know it’s easier said than done but don’t be too hard on yourself. Everyone’s paths in life are different. You can’t measure your own success by the success of others. As Kimora Lee Simmons puts it, “Live life on your own path. Everybody’s got something different. You can’t keep up with all those people, so you better keep up with yourself”. Everything that you’ve accomplished matters, no matter how small it may seem to others.
