Buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself and your passengers in a crash. It is extremely important to make sure all children riding in your car be properly secured before every trip.
Thousands of children are injured or killed every year because their child passenger safety seats are not installed properly. Remember, most collisions occur within a mile of the home – so buckle your child in a safety seat for every trip, no matter how short. If you’re not confident of how to properly secure your child in a safety seat, contact your local CHP Area Office, and ask to speak with a child passenger safety technician. On August 24, 2024, Chief Robert Logan became the 19th fire chief of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department; the third African American to hold this position in the department’s 134-year history. Federal Bureau of Investigation {FBI}

They have created two great resources for families. (1) The Child ID app—the first mobile application created by the FBI—provides a convenient place to electronically store photos and vital information about your children on your smartphone (note: no information is stored or collected by the FBI). (2) The FBI, in partnership with the DEA, created a short documentary focusing on the crisis of prescription drug and opioid abuse. The film, Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict, outlines the dangerous cycle of opioid and prescription drug abuse—how the problem starts, how the addiction takes hold, and how that addiction damages one’s life and body.

Animal Pad {Dog Care & Safety}
The Animal Pad (TAP) is a non-profit, all breed dog rescue that focuses on saving dogs from high kill shelters and the streets of Mexico. We teach the importance of dog care and safety through our K-12 curriculum. We offer camps, field trips, and on-site or virtual assemblies and workshops.
Whether it’s school presentations or supporting San Diego’s unhoused pets and their owners, we strive to improve the lives of both humans and their beloved pets. *The Animal Pad will be accepting monetary and supply donations onsite (new or gently used dog or cat supplies, and supplies for San Diego’s unsheltered pet owners)*
Ecovivarium Reptile Sanctuary & Museum {Rattle Snake + Reptile Safety}
We are thrilled to have EcoVivarium onsite with their Mobile Zoo featuring 16 to 21 live reptiles and arthropods, offering free hands-on encounters with the Animal Ambassadors throughout the day. They will also be sharing Rattlesnake safety information for families. EcoVivarium is a nonprofit Living Museum located in Escondido. They feature live reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods. In addition to museum tours, they offer Birthday Parties, Private & Corporate Entertainment Events, Educational Programs, and more.

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people.
