San Diego’s Top Candy Buy-Back Programs for Families

candy buy backIn the days following Halloween, many parents find themselves with an overwhelming candy stash collected by enthusiastic trick-or-treaters. The challenge? Managing the mountains of sweets in a way that keeps the fun alive without inviting a sugar overload.

Enter the Candy Buy Back program!

This program offers a creative solution adopted by several San Diego businesses that aims to “get the candy off the streets” by reducing excess sugar consumption among children while simultaneously creating an opportunity to give back. Families can bring in their extra Halloween treats, which, depending on the buy-back location, are then collected and sent to military members stationed overseas as a gesture of gratitude or to the Teal Pumpkin Project, a non-profit dedicated to raising food allergy awareness.

It’s a win-win: kids can still enjoy a few treats, and the rest goes towards a good cause. Keep reading to learn where you can participate in San Diego this season!
