May is Food Allergy Awareness Month, and this year, San Diego Moms has partnered with the Food Allergy Institute (FAI) to bring you a powerful month-long campaign packed with education, connection, and support for families managing food allergies.
Throughout May, we’ll be sharing real stories, expert insights, and life-changing resources—including a 4-part Facebook and Instagram Live series—to help parents feel less alone and more empowered. Because for many families, food freedom is an option.
Who is the Food Allergy Institute?
The Food Allergy Institute is the nation’s leading center for innovative food allergy treatment. Their groundbreaking Tolerance Induction Program™ (TIP) does more than manage food allergies—it creates a pathway to remission.
With a 99% success rate for those who complete treatment and less than 1% reaction rate, TIP™ is a personalized, data-driven program that retrains the immune system to tolerate allergens safely. The result? Children who once lived with fear and restriction can now eat safely—and live freely.

What Are Food Allergies?
Food allergies happen when the immune system mistakenly identifies a certain food as harmful and launches a defense—causing symptoms that can range from mild to life-threatening.
If you’re allergic to a food, your body produces IgE antibodies, which trigger the release of chemicals like histamine, resulting in an allergic reaction. These reactions can affect the skin, gut, and respiratory system, and even become life-threatening if not treated.
