Q&A with Lesley-Anne Stone

Tell us a bit about who you are and what brings you to this conversation.
Lesley-Anne Stone:

I’m the host of Resilience & Hope, a podcast that follows my journey with my son, Sam, through his food allergy diagnosis and treatment with the Food Allergy Institute’s TIP™ program. Sam is now 12 and has been in remission for almost seven years—no food or environmental allergies, completely healthy. I’m here to share our story and offer support to families who are navigating similar challenges.

How did you first discover your son had food allergies?
Lesley-Anne Stone:

Right after Sam’s first birthday, we followed our pediatrician’s recommendation to introduce peanut butter—he had a massive reaction, and we ended up in the ER. That was the start of our allergy journey, which eventually led us to TIP™.

What were some of your biggest challenges before and during the program?
Lesley-Anne Stone:

Before TIP™, every day felt like survival. We were constantly prepping, planning, and worrying about every bite of food. During TIP™, the challenge shifted to compliance—it was rigorous, but worth every moment. You have to stay on schedule and keep your child engaged in the process, even as a toddler.

What made you decide to pursue the Tolerance Induction Program™?
Lesley-Anne Stone:

After years of “avoid, avoid, avoid,” our allergist told us there was no point in re-testing Sam’s allergies for at least two years. That’s when I said, “I’m done.” We needed a solution, and the Food Allergy Institute offered hope, science, and an actual plan. Once we attended a seminar and met Dr. Randhawa, we were all in.

What surprised you most about the program?
Lesley-Anne Stone:

How quickly we saw improvements. Not just with food allergies—Sam’s environmental allergies, weight gain, and general health also improved. And emotionally, the relief was overwhelming. I remember crying when we were finally able to feed him peanut butter safely.

What was that remission moment like for your family?
Lesley-Anne Stone:

Magical. I knew it was happening even before we got the official word. That first tahini challenge—zero reaction—was a game-changer. It was emotional, empowering, and truly life-changing.

You launched a podcast called Resilience & Hope. What inspired it?
Lesley-Anne Stone:

I wanted to create a space where parents could feel seen and supported. Every episode shares part of our story or features another parent from the TIP™ program. It’s a community built around honesty, advocacy, and—most importantly—hope.

What advice would you give to a parent who has just received a food allergy diagnosis?
Lesley-Anne Stone:

Schedule a free consultation with the Food Allergy Institute. Know your options. TIP™ gave us our life back—and it can do the same for others.
