City Slickers Day Camp at Jamul Trails Ranch: Where Ranch Life Meets Adventure & Fun! City Slickers Day Camp offers a one-of-a-kind experience for children (8+) to step into the world of ranch life. This isn’t your typical camp filled with games, arts, or crafts—instead, it’s a structured, hands-on program that provides both visual training and real, day-to-day experience working on a functioning ranch.

But don’t worry—it’s not all work and no play! Participants will have a blast while learning practical skills, bonding with animals, and embracing the adventure of ranch life. From feeding livestock to learning the ropes of daily ranch operations, every day brings a new challenge, excitement, and a sense of accomplishment.

What Kids Will Do & Discover

– Be a Ranch Hand for a Day! – Get hands-on with daily ranch chores, learning real skills while having a blast working alongside new friends.

– Feed & Care for the Animals – From donkeys to ducks, kids will learn what, when, and why each animal eats—and even have fun feeding times with their favorite furry (or feathery) friends!

– Barnyard Builders – Help design, build, and maintain animal homes while getting creative with DIY ranch projects.

– Messy But Mighty! – Discover how waste is managed on a ranch (yes, poop scooping included!) and turn it into an eco-friendly learning experience.

– Water Wizards – Splash into water management by helping keep animals hydrated, and plants thriving, and even setting up a working water system.

– Little Fixers – Learn basic carpentry and ranch repair skills—think fence mending, shelter building, and hands-on problem-solving.

– Horse Time! – Groom, tack up, and lead a horse like a pro. Plus, kids will get in the saddle for basic riding lessons, learning to steer, control, and care for their horse.

– Critter Connection – Get up close with ranch animals, learning how to handle and care for horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, tortoises, and even tropical fish!

– Underwater Explorers – Build and take home a fully functioning aquarium while discovering how fish tanks work (water changes, filtration, and the cool science behind them).

– Ranch Rodeo Fun – End the week with exciting team challenges, ranch-style games, and a mini horse showcase!
