Parent and Teen Challenge Course at UCSD

March 8 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Free

Special Operations Dads and Moms and their teen and adult children (ages 12 and up) are invited to summon their courage and step out of their comfort zone into an experience that requires patience, trust, and positive self-talk.

Participants are invited to embrace the opportunity to climb to new heights both physically and mentally at the UCSD Challenge Course. This program combines team building activities both at ground level and up on the Odyssey Course.

The program starts with ground activities selected and led by UCSD skilled facilitators. These provide the team of parent and child with a chance to build or rebuild rapport, practice new communication styles, develop problem solving skills, and strengthen trust. Success during the ground initiatives allows the team to progress to the high course. After gearing up with equipment and safety training, the Odyssey Course provides the opportunity for the team to problem solve 20-30 feet off the ground while led by facilitators. The course culminates with an optional zip line experience. It is a fun, exhilarating, and challenging shared experience that further solidifies the outcomes for the day.
