Here we are again, making plans for 2017 already! In case you are interested, San Diego Moms Blog is launching a book club for the New Year. Included in the book list is everything you see below.
We have them outlined by month, and we also have links to purchase. (*These are affiliate links that help our little blog run. You can choose to purchase through them or not.*) You can always search your local library as well!
Whether you are a book “nerd” or not, there is a book in this list for everyone. Maybe you already have some of these books and you would like to read them again- but this time with a group who is reading it at the same time!
And maybe, you don’t like every selection in our list- that’s ok! You can be part of the group anyways!
We are using the Good Reads app (which can be accessed on your phone or computer) in this group so that we can all rate the books when we have finished reading them, add more books to our wish list, and see what our friends are reading!
Maybe you can add these to your Christmas list, (Husbands, here’s your hint!) or gift one to a friend! We are very excited to start this in January.

June- Happy Wives Club (marriage book)
Summer is the perfect time to check up on ourselves and our marriage. Things start to slow down as the kiddos are out of school and we enjoy some vacations with the family. Bring this one with you as you lay out by the pool and soak up those rays.
One woman undertakes a worldwide search to learn the secrets of a great marriage–and finds one foundational truth that could change everything.
Fawn Weaver was a happily married woman running a successful business–and then something happened. Maybe it was divorce rate reports on the evening news, The Real Housewives of Orange County, or any daytime talk show where husbands and wives dramatically reveal their betrayals. Everywhere she looked, Fawn saw negative portrayals of marriage dominating the airwaves and dooming everyone to failure.
July- The Chemist (mystery/thriller)
Let’s continue that Summer reading fun with a mystery/thriller! You might even have time to squeeze more then one book a month in during the Summer, so let us know what you are reading!

They’ve killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.
August- All the Light We Cannot See (historical fiction)
WINNER OF THE PULITZER PRIZE
From the highly acclaimed, multiple award-winning Anthony Doerr, the beautiful, stunningly ambitious instant New York Times bestseller about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II.
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is twelve, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.
September- The Outliers (education)
In this stunning new book, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of “outliers”–the best and the brightest, the most famous and the most successful. He asks the question: what makes high-achievers different?
His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: that is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing. Along the way he explains the secrets of software billionaires, what it takes to be a great soccer player, why Asians are good at math, and what made the Beatles the greatest rock band.
(The New York Times Book Review).
