Recently, the executive team from the San Diego Moms Blog took their annual executive team retreat. This was actually our first time doing something like this, but it was absolutely much needed!
We work hard behind the scenes all year round to plan fun events, and make sure that our San Diego community has a plethora of resources.
We were lucky enough to escape to Hotel Karlan (A DoubleTree by Hilton) for a little bit of work, and a little bit of play.
It’s not often, if ever, that moms plan a vacation for themselves. So many factors come into play:
-You don’t want to leave your little ones overnight
-You don’t want to go too far or be gone for too long
-It’s hard to get everyone’s schedules situated
-Maybe the budget isn’t there
Mamas- don’t let these obstacles get in your way!
You deserve a break every once in awhile, and sharing that time with some girlfriends will be just the thing you need. Talk to your friends about a staycation at Hotel Karlan! It’s close, affordable, and you don’t have to be gone longer than a week!
We spent some time at the cabanas and in the pool, really soaking in that kid free time. Grab yourself a cold drink, and enjoy the beautiful year round San Diego weather! We chose August as our staycation time frame, (think right before the back to school madness starts/ holidays/etc.) but you can really plan this any time of year.
Then… we enjoyed the heck out of our delicious food! We had some great options for dinner, and we chose to share our food family style. The Asado Grill is delicious, and you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to enjoy it! (Tip: those crab cakes were amazing!)
We got a few desserts, but I have to say- this chocolate brownie was absolute heaven.
Not only does Hotel Karlan have comfortable and spacious rooms to stay in with lovely patios attached so you can sit and enjoy the beautiful hotel grounds; they also give you delicious and warm cookies at check in! They have a lot of fun family events on their calendar, including a Summer Movie Series (going on through September). They are also letting us take over their ballroom for our second annual Sips and Sweets with Santa event!
It was such a relaxing and fun experience. We all can’t wait to go back for part 2!
