{SPONSORED} Why One Mom Chose Carlsbad Children’s Dentistry

This is a Carlsbad Children’s Dentistry sponsored post.

carlsbad family dentistryMy name is Roxy, and I am the mom of two of the littlest patients (and biggest fans, I might add) of Dr. Dabir at Carlsbad Children’s Dentistry. I have been bringing my kids to CCD since we moved from Oregon in 2014.

Ella is 11 and David will be turning 6 in a few short weeks. They are the core reason we are now here in SoCal enjoying everything paradise has to offer. We were referred to Dr. Dabir by our general dentist when he couldn’t get the kids to cooperate for their dental work.

But before we start blaming that good man for not getting anywhere with my kids, allow me to give you a little background about what we went through with their health prior to moving here.

Both of my children were diagnosed with severe seasonal allergies. Back home, I couldn’t crack a window from March through September without ending up in the ER with my daughter because her throat was closing up from all the allergens in the air. After a steroid shot, she would be discharged to go home with a recommendation to keep an Epi pen handy everywhere we went. Talk about a traumatic experience for a 5-year-old!

Shortly after, my son David started breaking out in eczema from head to toe, and again, pollen was to blame. As would any mom, I went from doctor to doctor in search for the best treatment options for them. After getting the runaround and the unacceptable answer of “Well, let’s wait and see if they can grow out of this.

Until then your only other option is bi-weekly steroid shots for Ella and steroid creams for David,” I was determined to find a better, long-term solution for my babies.

One of the allergists suggested relocating to San Diego or Miami as they were deemed best climates for people with severe environmental allergies. Overwhelmed with the huge decision, we took a leap of faith. We uprooted our little family, left our home, jobs, family, friends, and ended up in Carlsbad. Our only regret now is “why didn’t we do this sooner?!” How is this relevant to what I’m about to say about Carlsbad Children’s Dentistry? In short, I know a great doctor and staff when I see one!

Carlsbad Children’s Dentistry Feels Like Home!

From the moment we walked into Carlsbad Children’s Dentistry I felt at ease.  The office itself is clean, bright and inviting, not to mention the state-of-the-art technology including pain-free laser dentistry! The front office greeted us with friendly smiles and made sure our short wait to be called back was pleasant. The kids were automatically at ease and drawn to the video games and toys in the lobby and I could enjoy a nice cup of much-needed coffee.

When we were called back by Dr. Dabir’s  assistants, I could tell right off the bat that these girls love kids, have a passion for what they do, and are competent and excellent at doing it!

As if I wasn’t impressed enough already, Dr. Dabir went above and beyond to make sure the kids felt important and safe. Throughout the appointment he was always aware of each child’s comfort level while being efficient and thorough with the examination. He was very personable and friendly and offered reasonable treatment options.

A Scary Procedure for My Daughter

Not too long ago, my daughter needed her primary teeth extracted. She trusts Dr. Dabir completely and sat in that dental chair without hesitation. Now that she is older, I can no longer sugarcoat and spell out S-H-O-T-S so that she doesn’t know what’s coming. She is very well aware but kept telling me: “I know I will be OK mom, this is Dr. Dabir working on me!” The extractions went well, as expected.

Dr. Dabir walked her through every single step. After he sat her chair up, she broke down in tears, which surprised us all. He took the time out of his hectic schedule to make sure and listen to her concerns. Turns out, since this was her first time getting numb from the anesthetic, she was afraid of not being able to feel her face.

Pre-teen emotions were running high! Dr. Dabir was phenomenal at calming her down, explaining what she was feeling (or not feeling in this case), showing her in the mirror that her face was still there. He did not leave the operatory until he was certain that Ella was OK not just physically, but emotionally as well. That is what sets him apart from every other doctor I have met before. He is invested in the overall wellbeing of every child that walks through his doors.

I am proud to say that I am a part of a well-reviewed pediatric dental office in Carlsbad today and feel blessed to have my children in such great hands. Carlsbad Children’s Dentistry truly makes it a walk in the park and I cannot imagine taking my kids anywhere else for their dental care!
