Having Trouble Conceiving Your Next Baby? Here are 3 Things You Can Do Right Now

0

As a fertility health coach, I work with women of all ages and backgrounds who want to get pregnant. Whether they are trying for their first or fifth child, they all want to know what they can do on their own or in conjunction with a fertility expert to increase their chances of having a baby. So, today I am going to share 3 things that you can do right now to improve your fertility.

Nutrition:

Let’s start with the easiest way to nourish your body. Nutrition. I’m sure you already know that the quality of our food is one of the most important determinants of our health. What we eat matters for everyone, but especially women who are trying to conceive and pregnant mamas. A preconception meal plan should include organic fruits and vegetables, a variety of whole, organic grains, and lean cuts of meat. Though it can be hard to pass up on the weekly doughnuts at the office or that mimosa at brunch with the girls, it is also important to limit trans fats (found in fried foods, pastries, etc) and alcohol.

Remember, the more nutritious your diet is, the healthier your eggs (and his sperm) will be.

Low stress:

I’m sure you already know that stress is terrible for you, but do you know exactly how it affects your fertility? Well, when you are stressed, your body releases stress hormones that help keep you safe and out of danger. Well, if you are chronically stressed, your body is constantly releasing the stress hormone and too much of it can significantly impact the other hormones involved in fertility. This can lead to low progesterone, anovulation (no ovulation), and poor egg development.

Not exactly sure where your stress is coming from? Complete the activity below to see what areas in your life aren’t in balance and may be causing you stress.

Community/tribe:

Last but certainly not least, you need to find your community… your tribe. I think it’s safe to say that if you’ve found San Diego Moms Blog (or your local City Moms Blog) then you’ve found your people. We are all here to help you, support you, and cheer you on to that positive pregnancy test! Find us on social media, meet us at a local event, and start leaning on your girlfriends.

In addition to your San Diego Moms family, you should include the following three people in your tribe:

  1. A friend who has gone through infertility
  2. A friend you can call on just to cry, vent, or throw things
  3. A health coach/nutritionist who can guide you along your journey

Facing infertility can be overwhelming and scary, but you now have 3 things that you can do right now to take charge of your fertility and improve your chances for success. Let us know in the comments which ones you’ll be working on first or which ones you’ve already nailed!

Xo,
