Looking for budget-friendly things to do with kids in San Diego this February? One of our favorite annual events is back — and it’s bigger than ever.
The San Diego Museum Council has officially announced the 37th Annual San Diego Museum Month, running February 1–28, 2026, offering half-off admission to more than 70 museums and cultural attractions across San Diego County and Tijuana.
From hands-on science centers and kid-friendly museums to gardens, aquariums, historic sites, and art museums, Museum Month makes it easy (and affordable!) for families to explore San Diego’s rich cultural scene.
What Is San Diego Museum Month?
San Diego Museum Month is a region-wide celebration designed to encourage locals and visitors to explore the area’s world-class museums during February — traditionally a quieter time for cultural attractions.
Founded in 1989, the program has grown into one of the most popular family events of the year. In fact, more than 145,000 people participated last year, proving just how much San Diego families love this opportunity.
“Museum Month invites everyone to rediscover the museums they love, explore places they’ve been curious about, and uncover something totally new, fun and unexpected,” said Tom Felkner, Interim Executive Director of the San Diego Museum Council.

Some participating locations are even free or donation-based, making this one of the best free or low-cost things to do with kids in San Diego during February.
How Do You Get Your Pass?
- Starting January 28, you can pick up a free Museum Month printed pass at any of 80+ San Diego City or County public libraries, five libraries in Imperial County, or at select educational libraries.
- Starting February 1, you can download a digital pass from here to your mobile device. Present your pass this February for half-price admission for up to four people at 70+ museums around San Diego County from February 1 -28, 2026. Some restrictions apply*
How the Discount Works
- Each Museum Month pass allows up to four half-off admissions per museum
- Valid February 1–28, 2026
- You can visit as many participating museums as you’d like
- Discount applies to full general admission only

- Some museums may require advance reservations
- Some locations accept printed passes only
- Special exhibits or events may have additional fees
- Museum Month cannot be combined with other discounts or the Balboa Park Explorer Pass
- Always check museum-specific requirements before you go.
