The ocean’s mysteries come to life as Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego casts a spell of science and seasonal fun with two Halloween fan-favorite events! The festivities kick off with Oceans at Night: Halloween for guests 21 and older on Oct. 22 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. followed by family-friendly Halloween Aglow on October 23 and 24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., offering three unforgettable nights of Halloween magic with a splash of science. From unusual animals to enchanting illuminations, Halloween at Birch Aquarium offers a unique way to dive into fall spirit while learning about the amazing world beneath the waves.
Halloween Aglow
During Halloween Aglow, discover the wonders of the sea after dark while you trick-or-treat in Adam R. Scripps Living Seas Gallery, including glowing surprises around every corner. Experience the science of slime as you embrace your inner scientist in the Boo and Goo Lab.
“Our oceans are filled with unique creatures that have superpower-like abilities!” said Matthew Arrollado, Public Programs Coordinator. “The Boo and Goo Lab gives guests of all ages a chance to see and touch slimy critters with the ability to regenerate their body parts.”
Don’t miss the chance to show off your Halloween costume or witness Birch Aquarium divers demonstrate their underwater pumpkin carving skills. Plus dive into ocean science and hands-on exploration with pop-up science stations, classic arcade games and more! Halloween Aglow celebrates the wonders and mysteries of the ocean after dark in a fun family-friendly atmosphere.
Oceans at Night: Halloween
During Oceans at Night: Halloween, 21+ guests will dive into interactive games, cool science, hauntingly delicious drinks, live music and more. Be sure to wear your costume for fabulous photo opportunities and get hands-on with ocean science while exploring the aquarium after dark. It’s all the fun of Halloween at Birch Aquarium in an adults-only atmosphere.
Tickets for Halloween Aglow and Oceans at Night: Halloween are separate from general admission and go on sale September 17. Tickets for Oceans at Night are $59.95. For Halloween Aglow, tickets are also $59.95 for adults and $49.95 for children (ages 2 and under are free). Members save 20% off admission for both events.
