The Living Coast Discovery Center is a zoo and aquarium located on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge. We provide a unique opportunity for children to get hands on exploration in nature through camp games, crafts, and science activities. Campers will learn all about the native animals that live in our local environment, while also getting a chance to meet some up close. They will meet many of our amazing animal ambassadors including red-tailed hawks, owls, snakes, sea turtles and many more! Throughout the week, campers will meet native wildlife ranging from sharks and rays to snakes and lizards, all while exploring the refuge and learning how they can help protect nature.
The Living Coast Discovery Center strives to bring the excitement of nature exploration, scientific inquiry, and wildlife connection to your students. Campers will get to meet at least one animal up-close, explore the trails, visit various exhibits, feed some of our ambassadors, practice hands-on science, create recycled arts and crafts, and more.
If your camper is staying all day, please make sure to pack plenty of water, a lunch, and two extra snacks. Sunscreen, appropriate shoes, and a hat are all important too!
