We know that August is just one of those months where we are all preparing for back to school and bringing Summer to an end. August 6th: FanFest 2016 presented by Bud Light. 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM
August 6th: Star party and Family campout at 7:30 PM
Where: Oakoasis Preserve, 12620 Wildcat Canyon Rd, Lakeside, California 92040
Details: There is no cost to attend the star party, but camping fees will apply for those who wish to stay the night. The cost is $24 per campsite. Check-in is at 2 p.m. with checkout the following day, at 12 p.m. Reserve your site at www.sdparks.org. Spots are limited.
August 7th: Chula Vista Lemon Festival from 10AM to 5PM
Where: 353 3rd Ave, Chula Vista CA, 91910
Details: On Sunday, August 7, the Third Avenue Village will come alive as the 2016 Chula Vista Lemon Festival rolls back into town. From 10 am to 5 pm, families and visitors of the community are welcome to celebrate Chula Vista as the Lemon Capital of the World.
August 13-14: Art Walk San Diego from 10 AM to 6 PM (5 PM Sunday)
Where: At Liberty Station (at Ingram Plaza). Fine artists show their original artwork in an outdoor San Diego setting. This replaces the former Art Walk on the Bay event in San Diego.

August 13th: Dog Days Of Summer, from 10 AM to 5 PM
Where: Cardiff 101 Main Street.
Details: Dog Days of Summer is San Diego County’s largest dog-centered event. It is an all day event and will bring in over 10,000 attendees from all over San Diego. There will be vendors, pet adoptions from local shelters and rescue organizations, dog and kid zones. There will even be a doggie photo booth. So dress up your best friend (yes, I mean your dog) and come on out and enjoy a fabulously, fun day with the critters. You may even want to get your furry friend entered into some of the contests. August 19th: San Diego Moms Blog Night at the Park and Wine fest! Meet up at Park in the Park starting at 5:40PM for wine fest. Game starts at 7:40PM

August 20th: CAL FIRE Family Day at Lake Morena
Where: 2550 Lake Morena Drive Campo, CA 91906
Details: Join park staff for a fun and educational event featuring local firefighters! Smokey Bear will be on site along with representatives from CAL FIRE. Explore an in-service fire engine and learn some of the tricks of the trade from the experts themselves. All participants will learn how to be fire safe, and what steps they can take to protect their properties from wildfires. There will be ample photo opportunities. Consider wearing a bathing suit and bringing a towel in the event that CAL FIRE sprays water (drought permitting)!

August 20 to 21: World Bodysurfing Championships start at 6 AM
Where: Near Oceanside pier. It’s the annual World Bodysurfing Championships. Located adjacent to the Oceanside Pier where you can see between 350-400 bodysurfers from around the world completing for trophies and prizes. There will be both Men and Women’s Grand Champions crowned on Sunday afternoon at the completion of all scheduled heats.
