Feel and Look Like a Star – The Best Hair Salon in San Diego!

Yes, I know, who has time for salons when you are in the process of raising little humans?

Yet, I know that many moms out there need it. This is especially the case as the grey hairs start gaining traction. So, if you’ve saved up the funds, I’ve discovered an amazing place. And you don’t have to go to LA!

I’m talking about Jet Rhys Salon in Solana Beach. They are a hair salon, unlike anything I’ve seen. It was the first time I got to choose a person to do my cut, and another completely different person to do my color. In other words, each stylist there specializes in their talent, such that they become very good at what they do.

I recently went in for what was my second visit and was ready for a transformation.

I went ahead and made my appointment online. From the moment you walk in the door, the receptionist at the front desk is warm and welcoming. Every single person who works there wears a big smile on their face as they hustle and bustle. It is a happening place, without an ounce of arrogance, chaos or disorganization. This is because everyone is working together – as a team. 

The space is open, modern, with plenty of seating for older kids to play (dare I say it?) video games while you take a 2-hour beauty break!

I had my haircut with Ricky, a super friendly and knowledgeable stylist whose precision was impeccable. Then there was Jet, one of the founders of Jet Rhys, who is probably one of the most interesting people I have ever met, and she beautified my locks.

My appointment was pretty long, because I got full highlights – however, “wowsers!” did they take care of me! Get this – they even picked up an order I made at the nearby CPK so I wouldn’t starve! Celebrity status? Check!

Finally, when it was time for my blowout – the talented Topher did my hair. There were even before and after Instagram-worthy pictures. I felt fabulous!

It’s not cheap, but I’ll admit, it wasn’t that much more than a some of our local chic salons. It has that LA vibe, but with good ol’ San Diego hospitality, right by the beach! Oh, and did I mention plenty of parking, with no meters? WIN!
